CNPP CONDEMNS POLITICAL THUGGERY, WARNS AGAINST BIAS IN KADUNA

The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), Kaduna State Chapter, has strongly condemned the recent attack by political thugs during the African Democratic Congress (ADC) meeting in Kaduna, describing it as a serious threat to peace and democracy.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Publicity Secretary, Ambs. Sanin Yaya, CNPP also expressed concern over the arrest of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 16th August 2025 Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency Bye-Election, alongside her Director-General of Campaign, over the logistics funds meant for agents’ mobilization.

According to CNPP, acts of violence, intimidation, and selective enforcement of the law undermine the democratic process and must be rejected by all stakeholders.

“We cannot build democracy on violence, intimidation, or selective justice. All political leaders and parties must obey the rule of law and conduct themselves responsibly, while security and financial agencies must act with professionalism, fairness, and neutrality,” the statement quoted Ambassador Yaya as saying.

The CNPP further called on political parties, candidates, and leaders across the state to conduct their activities with peace, tolerance, and respect for due process, stressing that politics should not be treated as a do-or-die affair.

The group also urged security agencies and financial regulatory institutions to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism in carrying out their responsibilities, warning against partisanship, bias, or intimidation that could compromise credibility.

CNPP reaffirmed its commitment to working with all stakeholders to promote peaceful, credible, and transparent democracy in Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.
